Yotam Soloman's Spring Line – LA Fashion Week

Yotam Soloman’s show in Hollywood Hills was truly impeccable. Each outfit he brought out on the models was sophisticated but edgy. Soloman’s main theme in his latest line was nature and sustainability in clothing. In our short interview with Soloman he stated about this current collection, “nature is my biggest inspiration. Water, the trees, stone, Native American culture…”

Breaking News: Julian Casablancas is Funny

Andy Samdberg’s comedic trio the Lonely Islands club released a comedy CD last year with tracks that had been turned into music videos on Saturday Night Live’s digital short segment and others which had not. While every song was hilarious my favorite was Boombox featuring Julian Casablancas from the Strokes. Sadly though it had not yet been turned into a digital short yet…. Until last weekend on SNL the song was finally turned into a music video. Andy Samberg was his usual goofy comedic self and Julian was surprisingly very funny in the skit. Watch the video for yourself.

Death of a 'Big Star' – Alex Chilton, Dead at 59

Today a “Big Star” passed away. Alex Chilton, who carried on quite a legacy has reached his end at age 59. Almost everyone has had the chance to hear his masterpieces. The theme to “That 70′s Show” was a product of his genius known by the true fans as “In the Street”. Many great bands have recognized the brilliance of Big Star and have celebrated them in the form of covers; such bands including Placebo, Gin Blossoms, and the Duke Spirit. He will be missed greatly and his legacy shall not be forgotten.

Soaking up the Synth on Gorillaz' Plastic Beach

Welcome to the world of the Plastic Beach!  Gorillaz topped charts at #2 with this album and for good reason.  Plastic Beach is as incredible as its predecessors and includes many amazing (and surprising)  featured artists.  Even Mick Jones and Paul Simonon from the Clash contributed to this masterpiece.  What truly blew me away though was Lou Reed’s contribution in “Some Kind of Nature”. As with every Gorillaz album, it takes some getting used to, since you are virtually listening to a new band every album.
