Redheads Who Rock

Due to television shows like South Park there has been A LOT of bad press about red heads. Even M.I.A. has made a rather brutal music video to her song Born Free featuring the genocide of redheads. Well, according to South Park, “gingers” are soulless abominations on earth. While South Park’s sentiment towards redheads is a joke what isn’t are all of the talented redheads in the music industry.

Jenny Lewis

Jenny Lewis got her start as a childhood actress even staring in a teen flick with Angelina Jolie called Foxfire. But Jenny is most famous for her pop folk band Rilo Kiley. Her twangy country voice is matched perfectly with the folk style of Rilo Kiley’s music. While her music may not perfectly fit the “rock” category after seeing Jenny perform with Conor Oberst and the Mystic Valley Band at Street Scene I can definitely attest to the fact she has the stage presence of a rock star.

Kate Nash

This Brit certainly knows how to write indie pop music. Her songs take you from tapping your foot to her catchy tunes to giggling about the funny scenarios she writes about. On top of that she was named best female artist at the 2008 BRIT Awards.

Aaron Gillespie

Aaron is the former drummer and clean vocalist of Underoath and the lead singer of the Almost. While he has been at the forefront of the hardcore music scene he also preaches the word of God and living a straight edge life style. On top of his music career Aaron runs a clothing company with his wife called Pig Cloth which you can visit here.

Florence and the Machine

Florence and the Machine is what Florence Welsh uses as her performance name. Florence comes from a very educated family. Her mother is Harvard educated and is a professor at the Queen Mary University of London but her music is anything but conventional. Check out her music video for “Cosmic Love” for a surreal journey.

Patrick Stump

Patrick is known for being the lead singer of the very successful pop punk band Fall Out Boy. In 2005 the band released their break out album From Under the Cork Tree which went double platinum. Five years after the album’s release their hit singles from it like “Sugar, We’re Going Down” or “Dance, Dance” are still being played on the radio.
