Welcome to the world of the Plastic Beach! Gorillaz topped charts at #2 with this album and for good reason. Plastic Beach is as incredible as its predecessors and includes many amazing (and surprising) featured artists. Even Mick Jones and Paul Simonon from the Clash contributed to this masterpiece. What truly blew me away though was Lou Reed’s contribution in “Some Kind of Nature”. As with every Gorillaz album, it takes some getting used to, since you are virtually listening to a new band every album.
This album is packed with synth tones straight outta Miami Vice and dreamy melodies that cut through the fog-machine haze, Plastic Beach is music for piloting your speedboat beyond the no-wake zone, or for looking back from the future with a sentimental affinity for the past. Get this album, now, I can’t stress that enough.
