Redheads Who Rock

Due to television shows like South Park there has been A LOT of bad press about red heads. Even M.I.A. has made a rather brutal music video to her song Born Free featuring the genocide of redheads. Well, according to South Park, “gingers” are soulless abominations on earth. While South Park’s sentiment towards redheads is a joke what isn’t are all of the talented redheads in the music industry.

Jenny Lewis

Jenny Lewis got her start as a childhood actress even staring in a teen flick with Angelina Jolie called Foxfire. But Jenny is most famous for her pop folk band Rilo Kiley. Her twangy country voice is matched perfectly with the folk style of Rilo Kiley’s music. While her music may not perfectly fit the “rock” category after seeing Jenny perform with Conor Oberst and the Mystic Valley Band at Street Scene I can definitely attest to the fact she has the stage presence of a rock star.

Robin Pecknold and Joanna Newsom: A Haunting Combination Too Far From Home

Most indie music fans hold an unwavering love for the indelible music that flows from Robin Pecknold of the Fleet Foxes and the utterly adorable, Joanna Newsom. Both musicians have carved nostalgic alcoves that separate them from fellow artists by bringing some unique sounds to the music world, even though that seems like a tough feat this day in age. However, the combination of the two folk creators seems like something we could only dream of.

Although most fans downloaded the leaked album months ago, the release is gaining huge amounts of buzz being recognized as a fusion between the signature Danger Mouse funk and mellow Shins sound.
